The Shop at Strood Green is truly community led, and its principles are that all excess profits should be made available for the benefit of the local community after reinvestment into the business. Without our community we could never have opened or achieved what we have.
We are run by the Strood Green Shop Association (SGSA) which is a Community Benefit Society registered with the FCA (reg. no. 30434R) and has over 500 local members. The Rules of the Society are available to download here.
As a member you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting a community enterprise and helping to ensure its success, as well as preserving village life here in Brockham. You will also be able to influence the running of the shop, as each year you will be able to make one vote at the AGM. Members may also stand for election to the Management Committee.
You are eligible to become a member if you are aged 16 or over, just by purchasing a share for £10. You are able to purchase further shares thereafter if you would like to.
If you would like to join the Society please enquire at the shop, in person or by phone or email, and your request will be passed on to the Committee.
